US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, visited the newly built American Consulate in Hyderabad and read a few lines from a book called “Maha Prasthanam” (Great March) by the Telugu poet Sri Sri. The poem he read translates to “Let us move forward, Let us propel forward,” as “Another world is calling (us).” This is significant for the leftists in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha that the US Consulate in Hyderabad serves. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of community relations when asked about the poem’s communist orientation.
