The government has decided on a date for the ‘Bhumi Puja’ ceremony to begin construction on Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Karimnagar. The temple will be built by TTD. On Friday, BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar, State Planning Commission Vice President B Vinod Kumar, and Hyderabad TTD local advisory council president Bhaskar Rao met with TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy in Tirupati. They discussed the government’s order to give 10 acres of land to TTD for the temple construction. The Bhumi Puja programme will take place on May 31st.

Before the Bhumi Puja, TTD priests will conduct a Bhukarshanam programme on May 22nd. This involves ploughing the land for the sanctum sanctorum, sprinkling new grains, and using them as fodder for cows once they sprout. After this, the temple is levelled and construction work begins. This is called Bhukarshanam.

The minister stated that necessary arrangements would be made to hold the Lord Venkateswara Kalyanotsavam on the same premises in the evening. JEOs Sada Bhargavi, Veerabraham, Chief Engineer Nageswara Rao, EE Narasimhamurthy, Agama advisor Mohana Rangacharya, chief priest of Tirumala temple Venugopala Dixitulu and Dontha Ramesh were also present at the meeting.
