Virat Kohli scored his sixth hundred in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This was his first century after four years, with his last one coming in 2016. The match was crucial for IPL 2023 and was held at the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium. Kohli’s century also equalled former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Chris Gayle’s record of most IPL hundreds.

Kohli had scored four IPL hundreds in 2016 before scoring his fifth three years later. After failing to score in the past two games, Kohli came into this match with an intent to win. He showed why he is called the chase-master as he single-handedly destroyed the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack.

Earlier in the day, Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Heinrich Klaasen had scored a century in the first innings. This was the first time in the history of the IPL that two hundreds were scored on either innings of a match.
