Many colonies in Qutubullapur circle have a problem with water stagnation. This happens all year round, but it’s especially bad during the monsoon season. Residents are worried about what will happen this year. The local MLA, corporator, and GHMC officials haven’t done enough to help the people in MNR colony, Ayodhya Nagar, Raghavendra Colony, and Godavari Home. These areas are at risk of flooding.

Residents say that during every monsoon season, the narrow lanes in their colonies get flooded because there are no proper channels for water to exit. Officials and public representatives have promised to help, but they haven’t done anything. They said they would build storm water drains, but nothing has been done yet.

Residents of Ayodhya Nagar say that even a little bit of rain is enough to turn their colony into a cesspool. The sewer lines are old, and water accumulates on the road and sometimes flows into their houses. During the floods in 2020, valuable items were damaged. Officials promised to help, but they haven’t done anything.

Residents say that during heavy rain, water flows from Shapur and low-lying areas of Qutubullapur get inundated because there’s no proper channel for the water to flow. Even on normal days, there’s water stagnation in their colony because of the poor drainage system.

Residents of Raghavendra Colony are questioning why GHMC hasn’t done any monsoon-related work. They say that in almost all the colonies in Qutubullapur circle, manholes are open and dangerous. Last year, two small children fell inside manholes during the monsoon season. Despite this, officials haven’t done anything to fix the problem. Residents don’t understand why the civic authorities are so negligent.
