India is working to rescue its citizens from Sudan, where violent conflict began on April 15. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that 231 more stranded citizens have left for Mumbai on Wednesday, making it the 12th outbound flight from Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah since the start of ‘Operation Kaveri’. Under this initiative, India has been using military aircraft and naval ships to evacuate its citizens from the conflict zones of Khartoum and other troubled areas to Port Sudan. From there, they are flown to Jeddah before being brought back home on commercial flights or the Indian Air Force’s aircraft.
