Flipkart, a top e-commerce company in India, has opened a new fulfillment center in Sangareddy, Telangana. The facility covers 4 lakh square feet and will help deliver a range of products, including furniture and large appliances, from local sellers and MSMEs to a national market. The launch of the new center is part of Flipkart’s effort to strengthen its supply chain infrastructure and support India’s digital commerce evolution. The company’s operations have already created over 40,000 jobs in Telangana, and more than 14,000 local sellers have joined its e-commerce platform.

Telangana’s Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce, and Information Technology, Shri. Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao inaugurated the fulfillment center virtually. Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy and Government of Telangana Secretary for Industry and Commerce Jayesh Ranjan were also present. Flipkart has already invested in six other fulfillment centers, close to 100 distribution hubs, and a green data center powered by renewable energy in Telangana.

Minister KTR suggested that Flipkart create a model for the rest of the country by taking care of gig workers. He also proposed a tripartite arrangement among the government, e-commerce companies, and marketing vendors and partners to safeguard gig workers’ livelihoods. Additionally, he suggested that the company partner with Telangana Academy of Skills and Knowledge (TASK) to create an employable workforce with the required skills. The minister also suggested employing more women from self-help groups in rural areas.
