Top wrestlers are upset with Bharatiya Janata Party MP and Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. He claimed that they were trying to take control of the WFI. Vinesh Phogat called Singh’s ego “bigger than the Ravana.”
Wrestlers have been protesting to make the Centre-appointed panel’s conclusions into sexual harassment claims against Singh public. The protests ended on Sunday. The Delhi Police gave security to female wrestlers, including a minor who complained of sexual harassment against Singh. The Supreme Court directed them to record their statements quickly for further investigation.
Punia, another wrestler, asked the media not to give Singh a platform to speak until he has been cleared by the courts. This was in response to the wrestlers’ protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
