KT Rama Rao, the Industries Minister, opened the conference by saying that food processing is a key area of focus for the state. Over the past five years, the state has invested more than Rs 7,000 crore to enhance food processing capacities in Telangana. The Minister also launched the Innovation in Food Processing Grand Challenge, inviting startups and innovators from Telangana and India to create solutions that will enhance local food processing.
The Minister also discussed connecting the industry to farmers through the agriculture extension system and farmer producer organizations (FPOs). Telangana has a great potential in mobilizing farm produce in partnership with the industry.
The government is committed to empowering small entrepreneurs in the state. Currently, there are more than 2500 micro and small enterprises held by state departments and supported by welfare schemes such as Dalit Bandhu. Telangana is an excellent place for investment due to its industry-friendly policies, robust and fast-growing raw material base, world-class industrial infrastructure, and active facilitation extended by the government.
