Multiple cities in Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv, were hit by explosions early on Friday, resulting in at least two deaths. A high-rise building in Uman was hit by a missile, while explosions were also heard in Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Poltava, and Mykolaiv. The attack on Dnipro resulted in the deaths of a woman and a three-year-old child. The Kremlin recently said it would welcome anything that could bring an end to the conflict, but also stated that it still needed to achieve the aims of its “special military operation” in Ukraine.
The conflict began in February 2022 when Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of Ukraine to protect Russia. Russian forces have been trying to take over the city of Bakhmut for 10 months, but have suffered setbacks throughout the conflict.
