    The government has given permission for Khammam Government Medical College to operate from this academic year, and classes will begin in July. Health Minister Harish Rao handed over the permission order to Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar at an event in Sathupalli mandal. The Health Minister said that before Telangana was formed, there were 2,950 MBBS seats in the state, but now there are 8,000 seats. Eight medical colleges were established last year, and nine more will be established this year. The government has doubled PG and specialist seats to encourage medical education.

    During the event, the ministers laid the foundation stones for two 50-bed hospitals and one office building for the Supervising Engineer, Water Drainage Department. The State government is providing modern facilities in all government hospitals so that poor people can get quality treatments for free. The government hospital in Kallur has been upgraded, and a new hospital building will be constructed with Rs. 10.50 crore. The construction of a 100-bed hospital in Satthupalli is going on at a fast pace. Rs. 20 lakh has been sanctioned for each ANM sub-centre, and Rs. 1 crore has been sanctioned for constructing new 26 sub-centres in the district. ICU and dialysis services have been made available in Satthupalli.

    The government is implementing various schemes for women like Kalyan Lakshmi, Arogya Lakshmi, Mission Bhagiratha, Griha Lakshmi and a scheme to build houses for those who own land. Arogya Mahila programme is providing medical services to women every Tuesday by women doctors and staff. The new KCR Nutrition Kit scheme will be launched in Khammam district in a week or ten days. The government is implementing the KCR Kit scheme after the birth of a child and the KCR Nutrition Kit scheme when the child is in the womb. District Collector VP Gautham, MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, MLC Tata Madhusudhan, and other leaders participated in the event.
