The IT and Industry minister of Telangana, KT Rama Rao, has said that units set up under the CM ST Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scheme in the state will be exempt from property tax payment. The minister made the announcement at a programme for the CMSTEIS and MSME scheme Asset Distribution on Monday. Since the scheme began in 2017, 300 ST candidates have been trained at ISB, with 95 receiving assistance of Rs.108.03 crore to set up their units. A further 77 candidates’ proposals are currently under bank assistance sanction stage, and TRICOR is extending assistance to ST MSME units.

KTR urged ST entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the state government. He also criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who made remarks about Telangana at a public meeting on Sunday. KTR said that political tourists were coming to the state to try to dethrone the Chief Minister from power, but when challenged to name a BJP-ruled state that had fared better than Telangana in the last nine years, they remained silent. In those nine years, Telangana’s per capita income had increased from Rs.1.24 lakh to Rs.3.17 lakh, and the state ranked number one.

KTR also highlighted that Telangana had upgraded 3,146 Girijanthandas and gudems into Panchayats, with water tankers, trolleys and other facilities provided in the new panchayats. He urged ST entrepreneurs to inspire budding entrepreneurs in districts and to visit T-Hub, T-Works and We-Hub to explore opportunities to scale up their business. The ST Finance Corporation is extending loans on subsidy to the ST entrepreneurs, he added.
