YS Sharmila, a leader of the YSRTP party, has been sent to jail for 14 days after she got into an argument with the police outside her home. The police were trying to stop her from protesting without permission, and Sharmila allegedly hit some of the officers. She has been taken to Chanchalguda jail.

The police had seen TV footage of Sharmila assaulting officers who were trying to prevent her from protesting without permission. When they heard that she was planning to go to the SIT office, they went to her house to talk to her. However, she allegedly hit them instead of listening.

Sharmila said that she was planning to submit a representation about the TSPSC question paper leak issue, but the police put her under house arrest. She pushed a policeman and hit a woman constable when they tried to stop her from leaving. She also sat down in the middle of the road and may have run over a police constable’s foot.

Sharmila’s lawyers argued that the police were behaving badly, but the court decided to send her to jail for 14 days anyway. Sharmila said that she was just defending herself and that the police were being rude.
