The Multimedia Musical Fountain at Mir Alam Tank was built by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for Rs. 2.55 crores. It was inaugurated by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao last year but has not been operational since then. The fountain is now submerged under the smelly water and surrounded by water hyacinth. Only the steel poles that fenced the area remain.

The fountain is located next to a sewerage treatment plant (STP) on National Highway 44, between Tadban to Aram Ghar Road. Community activist Mohd Zaheer expressed his disappointment over the state of the fountain, saying that leaders were proud to share inauguration pictures on their Twitter handles but forgot to ensure the safety and survival of the fountain. The HMDA and GHMC have not released any statement regarding the situation or any plans for the future of the fountain.
