Virtual meetings are a way for people in different places to meet in the same “room” using their phones or computers. They’re popular for work and for connecting with family and friends. To have a successful virtual meeting, there are some things to keep in mind.
Before the meeting, make sure you log in a couple of minutes early to check for technical problems. Make sure everyone knows when the meeting is and has the agenda. Check your background and have any necessary files or notes ready. Make sure all phones are on mute or silent.
During the meeting, introduce everyone and decide how questions will be asked. If you’re in a public place or there’s background noise, mute your microphone. Speak directly into the camera and use a clear voice. If possible, record the meeting.
After the meeting, summarize what was discussed and send out notes. Follow up with attendees and act on their feedback.
It’s important to treat virtual meetings with the same respect as in-person meetings. Even though you’re not face to face, being professional and focused will help your team stay on track and get their work done.
