Ministers Harish Rao and Jagadish Reddy, along with local MLA K Prabhakar Reddy, laid the foundation stone for a new 100-bed hospital in Choutuppal on Tuesday. The hospital was promised during the Munugodu by-election and is estimated to cost Rs 36 crore.

Speaking at the event, Health Minister Harish Rao highlighted the Telangana government’s efforts to improve healthcare. He noted that 35 new medical colleges have been established, compared to only 20 in the previous 67 years. The government plans to set up medical colleges in all 33 districts, with eight established last year and nine more this year.

Rao also mentioned the establishment of super specialty hospitals with 10,000 beds, including facilities in Hyderabad, Warangal, and NIMS. The government has also started 310 Basti Dawakhanas and plans to increase the number to 500. ANM centers are being upgraded to village hospitals, and nursing and para-medical colleges are being started at each medical college.

However, some leaders and citizens are criticizing the decision to set up the hospital in Choutuppal rather than Nampally Marriguda, which they argue is a more needy area.
