The Congress party has asked for a report on the Pulwama terror attack that happened in February 2019. They want to know why the CRPF soldiers had to travel by land from Jammu to Srinagar, which made them easy targets for the terrorists. Party members Shaktisinh Gohil, Col. (ret.) Rohit Chaudhry, and Wing Commander (ret.) Anuma Acharya held a press conference to ask the government to address concerns about “intelligence failures” and why troops were not evacuated. They are worried that there were security lapses that led to the deaths of 40 CRPF soldiers.

The Congress party did not make any political statements about this in 2019, but they are bringing it up now after former Army chief General (retd.) Shankar Roychowdhury expressed his own concerns. Col. Chaudhry and Wing Cdr. Acharya said that the whole country shares their worries and that they want answers.

The veterans demanded that the Indian government release a report, or White Paper, on the Pulwama attack. They want to know how the attack happened, what the “intelligence failures” were, why troops were denied aircraft, what security lapses took place, and the roles of different government agencies like the CRPF, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defense, National Security Adviser, and the Prime Minister’s Office.
