    Experts from different fields discussed high-speed mobile broadband and its impact on society, digital inclusivity, and sustainable green digital infrastructure at the G20 Digital Economy Working Group’s second meeting in Hyderabad. The DoT organized three thematic sessions as part of the event.

    The first session, titled ‘High-Speed Mobile Broadband and its Impacts,’ discussed the last mile of high-speed connectivity, digital services in social areas such as education, health, and agriculture, and the impact and innovation enhancement using AI, IoT, industry 4.0, society 5.0. The panel also talked about providing extra measures to fill gaps in access to mobile internet and smartphones and assisting senior citizens and rural communities.

    The second session focused on ‘Digital Inclusion – Connecting the Unconnected,’ with a panel discussing connecting people with the planet for digital transformation. The discussion centered around aspects such as access, adoption, value creation, meaningful usage, awareness, speed, affordability, infrastructure, digital skilling, content, enablement, and an assisted approach to adoption.

    The last session was titled ‘Sustainable Green Digital Infrastructure: Challenges and Opportunities.’ Experts discussed the intersection between digital infrastructure going green and physical infrastructure of other sectors going green, sustainable development goals, reduced carbon footprint, renewable energy, reconditioning/recycling, and efficient digital transformation.

    In addition to the thematic sessions, delegates were treated to a digital experience and a visit to IIT-Hyderabad to showcase India’s path-breaking projects and cutting-edge research in digital and telecom technologies such as 5G products, 5G base stations, 6G system prototypes, autonomous navigation test-bed, and AI-powered RNA-electronic test kit.
