Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop believes that the World Test Championship (WTC) final between Australia and India will be a competitive game. The match will take place from June 7-11 at The Oval, just after the completion of IPL 2023. This will be India’s second successive WTC final, after they beat Australia at home recently. Australia will be playing their first WTC final.
Bishop thinks that Australia will have the edge over India, as they found better form towards the end of the series in India. He also said that playing a strong opposition out of their comfort zone could be advantageous for Australia. However, The Oval can level things up for both sides as it can be very flat.
India will have two different captains in the WTC Finals, with Rohit Sharma leading the side this time. India needs someone who can hold the middle order and give a balance to the team, considering Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are both out due to injuries. Ajinkya Rahane might be an option for India, considering his experiences in overseas conditions. Jasprit Bumrah’s return from injury is still uncertain, and the team management may have to look up to someone like Shardul Thakur for the third pacer’s slot.
The cricketing world is excited about the WTC final in London in June, and Bishop believes it is going to be a great game.
