Traffic jams in the old city areas of Hyderabad have been causing difficulties for people since the 10th day of Ramzan. Typically, this issue arises after the 20th day of Ramzan when commercial activities peak in areas such as Charminar, Pathargatti, Madina Building, Lad Bazar, Khilwath, and Shah Ali Banda. However, due to police department negligence, traffic jams have been occurring just before iftar causing fasting individuals to break their fast on the road. Despite promises from the government to prevent these traffic jams, they have not taken effective steps to do so. Daily wagers and others are finding it difficult to reach their destinations due to the traffic. Traffic jams have become common in many areas including Chhata Bazar, Pathargatti, Gulzar Hauz, Panjeshah, Purani Haveli, Kotla Alijah, Circle Mir Momin, Shah Ali Banda to Falaknuma, Panch Mohalla, Hussaini Alam, Fateh Darwaza, and surrounding areas. From 5 pm to 1 am, traffic jams make it difficult to pass through the old city areas and the traffic police staff is hardly visible. The police personnel are mainly seen on the road to make way for police vehicles or manage VIP movement and then disappear as soon as their vehicle passes. As the last 10 days of Ramzan approach, the government should deploy more traffic staff to prevent traffic jams in the old city areas. People are also facing problems as a result of organizing Iftar on the streets.
