Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Telangana BJP president and Member of Parliament, has accused Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of possessing his lost mobile phone. Sanjay claims that the CM was concerned about the call list on the phone, which allegedly contained contacts with many MLAs of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Sanjay believes that KCR wanted his phone to avoid losing ministers and MLAs to the BJP. The BJP leader’s phone was requested by the Warangal Police Commissioner A. V. Ranganath for investigations into a 10th class exam paper leak case.

Sanjay was arrested on April 4 and was remanded to judicial custody after being accused of being in regular contact with Prashanth, who leaked the Hindi question paper from an exam centre in Kamlapur on April 4. Sanjay was released on bail the next day but was named accused number one in the case. The Warangal Police Commissioner stated that Sanjay refused to give his phone to the police for investigations.

The state government has asked the Telangana High Court to cancel Sanjay’s bail as he is not cooperating with the investigation. The Advocate General B.S. Prasad stated that if Sanjay’s mobile phone data is analysed, many details behind the conspiracy would be revealed. The court has adjourned the hearing to April 21 and has asked the government to file an affidavit.

In another related development, BJP MLA Eatala Rajender appeared before Warangal police in response to a summons for questioning. The former minister claims that he did not receive any call from Prashanth and disputes the police claim that it was a paper leak. Rajender believes that it was a case of malpractice and that Chief Minister KCR is trying to implicate them in a false case.
