Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, recently spoke at the Atmeeya Sammelanam of the BRS cadres at Vadde Kothapally village under Vanagara mandal in Jangaon district. During his speech, he highlighted the efforts of the Telangana Government towards the agriculture sector. He stated that no other State in the country was paying Rs 10,000 per acre crop compensation to farmers who lost their standing crops due to untimely rains. This is significantly higher than the normal compensation amount of Rs 3,000 per acre paid by other governments. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced this compensation amount after inspecting crops affected by untimely rain and hailstorm.

Errabelli Dayakar Rao also mentioned that Telangana is the only State in the country to offer Rs 5 lakh in compensation under Rythu Bima to the kin of farmers who die for any reason. The government is also extending a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per acre per year under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He added that land values in the State have gone up with the government ensuring irrigation facilities, referring to the construction of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

The minister also spoke about the provision of uninterrupted free power supply to the farm sector in Telangana, making it the first State in the country to do so. He mentioned that KCR has been opposing the Centre’s pressure to install meters to agricultural pump sets, with the government bearing an average cost of Rs 1 lakh per annum per agricultural pump set.

Finally, Errabelli Dayakar Rao discussed the implementation of Mission Bhagiratha, which has given a huge relief to women who previously had to walk miles to fetch drinking water. Although there are some areas that are yet to receive drinking water under the scheme, the minister assured that it will be rectified soon. The Minister’s wife, Usha Dayakar Rao, also read out the Chief Minister’s message to the cadres during the event.
