The Telangana Power Utilities have recently requested the intervention of the Labour Commissioner to prevent the possibility of a strike action. The request was made in response to a notice issued by the Telangana Electricity Employees’ Union, which had threatened to go on strike if their demands were not met. The demands include the implementation of the recommendations of the Pay Revision Commission and the regularization of contract workers. The Power Utilities have expressed concern that a strike would disrupt power supply to consumers, especially during the ongoing pandemic.

The Telangana Power Utilities have stated that they are committed to meeting the demands of the employees but have requested that the union refrain from going on strike. They have cited the financial strain caused by the pandemic as a reason for the delay in implementing the Pay Revision Commission’s recommendations. The Power Utilities have also assured that they are taking steps to regularize contract workers and have already regularized over 1,500 workers in the past year.

The Labour Commissioner has now called for a meeting between the Power Utilities and the union to resolve the issue. The meeting is expected to take place soon, and both parties have expressed their willingness to find a solution that is beneficial to all stakeholders. The Power Utilities have emphasized the importance of uninterrupted power supply during these challenging times, and the union has acknowledged the need for a balanced approach that takes into account the financial constraints faced by the Power Utilities. It remains to be seen how this issue will be resolved, but both parties have expressed their commitment to finding a solution that is fair and just.
