Continental Hospitals in Hyderabad, India, has successfully performed the country’s first robot-assisted coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedure. The surgery was performed using the da Vinci surgical system, a state-of-the-art technology that allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision and control. The use of robotics in surgery is becoming increasingly common, as it offers many benefits to patients and surgeons alike.

During the robot-assisted CABG procedure, the surgeon uses a console to control a set of robotic arms that hold surgical instruments. The robotic arms are inserted into small incisions in the patient’s chest, allowing the surgeon to access the heart and perform the bypass grafting procedure. The da Vinci system provides the surgeon with a 3D view of the surgical site, allowing for greater accuracy and precision during the procedure. This results in less trauma to the patient’s body, less blood loss, and a faster recovery time.
