    In a devastating turn of events, five Indian pilgrims, including two from Hyderabad, lost their lives while on their way to Umrah near Riyadh. The group was traveling in a bus when it collided with a truck, resulting in the tragic incident. The deceased were identified as Mohammed Abdul Khader (65), his wife Naseema Begum (60), Mohammed Abdul Khader’s brother-in-law Abdul Raheem (58), and two other relatives. The news has left the Indian community in shock and mourning.

    The incident occurred on the morning of 30th October 2021, near the Al Majma’ah region, approximately 120 km north of Riyadh. The group was on their way to perform Umrah, a pilgrimage to Mecca that is considered one of the holiest journeys in Islam. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that the bus driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.

    The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has offered its condolences to the families of the deceased and is providing all necessary assistance to them.
