Recently, the Hyderabad police apprehended a Nigerian national for his alleged involvement in an online gift scam. The accused, identified as John Okeke, was arrested by the Cyber Crime police of the Hyderabad city police. The police have claimed that Okeke was running an online gift scam in which he would lure people into buying expensive gifts from him at a discounted price.

The modus operandi of the scam was simple. Okeke would create fake profiles on social media platforms and offer expensive gifts like watches, perfumes, and gadgets at a discounted price. He would then ask the victims to transfer the money to his account and promise to deliver the gift within a few days. However, after receiving the payment, he would disappear and stop responding to the victim’s messages.
