The suspension of Sunkari Biksham Goud, the president of the Nalgonda district PRTU, has caused a stir among teachers in the region. Despite hopes that his suspension would be lifted on Monday evening, the State committee did not take any action. Goud was suspended from the association after allegations that he worked for the victory of BJP candidate AVN Reddy and the defeat of PRTU candidate Gurram Chennakesava Reddy by accepting Rs 20 lakh in the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar teacher MLC election. However, Goud and his supporters have protested the suspension, claiming that it was due to his growing influence in the teaching community.
Reports suggest that CM KCR and KTR have given suggestions to Minister Jagadish Reddy and BRS MLAs in support of the PRTU State committee’s decision, after receiving feedback. The BRS leadership has also directed that no PRTU teacher members support Goud.
The suspension of Goud has not only caused a debate among teachers but has also raised concerns about the politicization of the education system.
