    The BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister, Gangula Kamalkar, attended a felicitation programme in Karimnagar on Saturday to honour the distinguished poet, writer, and analyst of Karimnagar district, Varala Anand. Anand was awarded the Kendra Sahitya Akademi translation award, a prestigious national award for literary translation. The Minister praised Anand for his contributions to literature and for upholding the reputation of Karimnagar district at the national level. He also spoke about the power of literary writers to influence society.

    The Minister informed the audience that plans are underway to set up a platform for literature in Karimnagar, with the construction of a Sahitya Mandir to honour poets. He also presented a memento of appreciation to Anand. The Minister highlighted the significance of Karimnagar district in the field of literature and mentioned that the renowned economist and former Prime Minister, PV Narasimha Rao, was also born in Karimnagar and had received the same prestigious award as Anand.
