The Municipal Councillors of Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy have recently resigned from their positions, citing corruption allegations against the Municipal Chairperson K Sravanthi. The councillors had previously complained to the district collector about the chairperson’s conduct and requested a motion of no confidence.

The councillors claimed that a special budget meeting was held under the chairmanship of the municipal chairperson on Tuesday, despite the lack of quorum, and the budget was approved. This led to further complaints about the lack of council meetings in the municipality for several months, which had hindered development due to corruption.

To address these concerns, Ranga Reddy District Additional Collector Prateek Jain organized a special budget meeting on Wednesday. However, the councillors were still unsatisfied and demanded immediate action against the chairperson. They even attempted to prevent the Additional collector from leaving his office to accept their resignation papers.

In response to the ongoing dispute in the municipality, the Additional Collector has promised to conduct an inquiry with two senior municipal commissioners within two days. The situation remains tense as the councillors continue to push for action against the chairperson.
