The Mumbai Indians emerged as champions of the inaugural Women’s Premier League after defeating Delhi Capitals in the final on Sunday. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur described the win as a “dream” and expressed her delight at finally seeing the league come to fruition after years of waiting. The Mumbai Indians restricted Delhi Capitals to 131 for nine before successfully chasing the target with three balls to spare, thanks to Nat Sciver-Brunt’s unbeaten fifty. Kaur praised her team’s long batting line-up and their positive attitude, which helped them execute their plans well. DC captain Meg Lanning admitted her team didn’t have enough on the board after putting up a below-par show with the bat. Sciver-Brunt, who was awarded Player of the Match, said it was “very special” to be able to take the team home and win the trophy with her fellow Mumbai Indians teammates.
