The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Telangana’s governing party, has announced its support for the Janata Dal (Secular) in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections. According to sources, the BRS had initially considered fielding its candidates in some districts bordering Telangana as part of its national expansion strategy, but has now abandoned this plan. Instead, the party has decided to fully back the JD(S) and ensure its success in the elections. BRS party chief K Chandrashekar Rao is expected to campaign for JD(S) candidates, particularly in areas with a high concentration of Telugu-speaking people. The elections are scheduled for May. In related news, JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy recently met with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and requested her support in campaigning for the Assembly polls. Banerjee has reportedly agreed to campaign and asked for a schedule to be sent to her.
