The International Boxing Association (IBA) has launched an investigation after the Russian national anthem was played incorrectly during the medal ceremony at the Women’s Boxing World Championships on Sunday. The incident happened at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall during the 70kg medal ceremony, which was won by Demurchian Anastasiia. The announcer apologised for the mistake and requested applause for Anastasiia. Later, she stood on the podium alone as the correct Russian anthem was played. The IBA is conducting its own investigation, and the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has said it will fully cooperate with the process. Over 10 countries, including the USA, Britain, Ireland and Netherlands, boycotted the tournament because the IBA allowed Russian and Belarusian boxers to compete under their respective flags.
