The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Hyderabad, KT Rama Rao, recently inaugurated the LB Nagar RHS Flyover under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP). The 760-meter-long flyover will provide a hassle-free commute for people traveling from Vijayawada to Hyderabad without any traffic. The LB Nagar Junction, where the flyover is located, will be named after Telangana Martyr Srikantha Chary, who self-immolated during the Telangana agitation in November 2009. The RHS Flyover will be named after Goddess Mal Maisamma, whose temple is located in the LB Nagar area of the city.
Previously, it took around 20 minutes to cross LB Nagar junction due to traffic congestion. However, with the completion of nine projects under SRDP in LB Nagar, traffic now flows seamlessly. Three more projects are set to be completed by September 2023, and a total of 35 projects have been completed under SRDP to ease traffic congestion in Hyderabad. Additionally, 12 more projects are currently in progress.
The Minister also announced plans to extend the Metro line from Nagole to LB Nagar and from LB Nagar to Hayathnagar and the airport in the next term. Furthermore, he stated that the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Gaddiannaram would be made available to the public as soon as possible.
