A Ukrainian NGO called Save Ukraine organized a reunion between 17 children and their parents who were separated for months due to the recent conflict between Russia and Ukraine. More than 16,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia since the invasion in February 2022, with many allegedly placed in institutions and foster homes. The ICC recently issued an arrest warrant against President Vladimir Putin for unlawfully deporting Ukrainian children. Some families were pressured into sending their children to Russian summer camps, with Russian officials making threats of violence against the children if the parents did not comply. The children who were reunited with their parents reported instances of political indoctrination during their time in the camps. Save Ukraine is providing psychological support to all of the children and is working to prevent them from returning to dangerous territories.
