Marathis living in Hyderabad are gearing up to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, the Telugu and Marathi new year, by organizing a ‘Shobha Yatra’ on Wednesday. The event will be attended by a group of 15,000 members who will participate in various cultural and social activities in the city.
The main purpose of this event is to promote and provide information on Marathi culture in Telangana and to connect with people from different backgrounds. This yearly event draws a large crowd of 3000 to 5000 individuals who come to showcase their abilities in a range of social and cultural activities.
The event will feature various cultural activities such as playing the “Dhol Tasha” percussion instruments while dressed traditionally in Marathi attire, playing the lezim, painting Rangoli, and most significantly, females riding motorcycles while sporting a traditional nose stud and Maharashtrian 9-yard saree.
The event will be held at CCRT, near Google Office, Kondapur Road, Madhapur on March 22, starting at 4:00 pm. The Marathi community in Hyderabad is excited to celebrate their culture and tradition with people from different communities and backgrounds.
