On Monday, BRS Members of Parliament staged a protest at Vijay Chowk in Delhi, demanding the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the Adani-Hindenburg issue. The protest took place after the House was adjourned for the day. The MPs were joined by Opposition members, and their demonstration caused both Houses of Parliament to be adjourned.
The BRS MPs criticized the Centre’s attitude towards the issue and marched from Parliament with placards and slogans demanding that a JPC be set up as soon as possible. They held a large-scale dharna at Vijay Chowk, where they raised slogans such as ‘Modi down down’ and ‘JPC should be formed on the issue of Adani.’ Nama Nageswara Rao, the BRS party leader in the Lok Sabha, said that the government was adjourning Parliament to divert attention from the Adani issue and stifling the Opposition’s voice.
Rao further added that despite a large-scale agitation in Parliament demanding a JPC on the Adani issue, the Centre was denying discussion and adjourning the House. He highlighted that crores of people had invested their hard-earned money in LIC, SBI, and other banks and financial institutions, and now there was no security for their money.
In summary, the BRS MPs’ protest at Vijay Chowk was aimed at pressuring the Centre to establish a JPC to investigate the Adani-Hindenburg issue. The MPs criticized the government’s attitude towards the issue and accused them of stifling the Opposition’s voice. They also highlighted concerns about people’s investments in financial institutions and demanded that their money be secured.
