On Saturday, District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu visited and inspected nurseries established as part of the Haritha Haram programme in Abhangapatnam and Abbapur villages in Navipet mandal. He directed officials to pay special attention to the management of these nurseries and interacted with labourers carrying out NREGS works in Abhangapatnam, enquiring about their average daily wages. The Collector sought details about the scheme implementation from officials and made some suggestions.

To prevent the migration of rural laborers as the agricultural season is about to end, he emphasized the need to provide employment opportunities. The Collector examined the state of plants in the nurseries and instructed officials to prioritize the planting of Telangana state tree Jammichettu (Prosopis Cineraria) saplings. He urged that the targets set under the Haritha Haram be met and steps taken to protect the plants.
