During the India Today Conference 2023, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor spoke about the political brilliance of the BJP. Responding to a question about whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should apologize for his comments made in the UK, Tharoor stated that there was nothing for which to apologize. He claimed that the BJP had accused Gandhi of saying something he had never spoken and had been able to maintain the false accusation.

Tharoor also mentioned how Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly claimed that India had not seen any progress in the past 65 years. Tharoor argued that if Gandhi were to apologize for his comments, then everyone who had made similar statements about India’s lack of progress should also apologize.

Tharoor further stated that Gandhi had not made any anti-national remarks during his speech in London. Gandhi had faced criticism for his comments about a “brutal attack” on the institutions of Indian democracy. Tharoor’s remarks shed light on the ongoing political debate between the Congress and BJP in India.
