An 82-year-old woman has made headlines by filing her nomination for the assembly elections. She is the wife of a warrior who fought for the liberation of Hyderabad and freed the state. This has caused quite a commotion.

The woman’s name is Cheeti Shyamala and she is from the Kurikyas community in Gangadhara Mandal, Karimnagar District. She currently resides in Jagitya. Her husband, Muralidhar Rao, was also a freedom fighter. However, Shyamala had to file the nomination due to a dispute with her elder son over their house. She claims that her son, Rama Rao, tried to sell the house using fake documents. The case is now being investigated in court. Shyamala also accuses her son of not taking care of her and having to live in a rented place in old age.
