    8 additional medical colleges in the State receive Rs 1,447 crore in funding, announces Hyderabad

    The Telangana government has approved Rs 1,447 crore for the construction of eight more government medical colleges by next year. This means that government medical colleges will be set up in all districts. The administrative sanction will cover the construction of the colleges, including hostel buildings and other necessary facilities, through the Roads and Buildings department.

    A Government Order (GO Ms No 162) was released by Chief Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Telangana, SAM Rizvi on Saturday to announce this decision. The eight government medical colleges that will be constructed are in Gadwal (Rs 183 crore), Narayanpet (Rs 180 crore), Mulugu (Rs. 180 crore), Narasampet (Rs 183 crore), Medak (Rs 180 crore), Yadadri (Rs 183 crore), Maheswaram (Rs 176 crore), and Qutbullapur (Rs 182 crore).

    Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao expressed gratitude to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for making Telangana a healthcare leader. He also highlighted that nine colleges were inaugurated recently and the approval for eight new medical colleges fulfills the goal of having a medical college in every district. The minister emphasized that health and medical education are a powerful combination and that Telangana is leading the way in this field.
