Jogulamba Gadwal Celebrates 76th Republic Day with Enthusiasm
Jogulamba Gadwal district marked the 76th Republic Day with vibrant celebrations at the Police Parade Ground on Sunday. The event, organized by the district administration, began in the morning and continued until the afternoon. District Collector B.M. Santosh served as the chief guest, hoisting the National Flag and receiving a ceremonial guard of honor from the police. He extended Republic Day greetings to officials, dignitaries, and local citizens.
In his speech, the District Collector highlighted the significance of the Indian Constitution, which was implemented on January 26, 1950, under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He spoke about the Constitution’s role in establishing India as the world’s largest democracy and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, freedom fighters, martyrs, and the architects of the Constitution for their invaluable contributions.
The Collector also discussed the state government’s dedication to public welfare through various initiatives, including the Abhaya Hastam scheme for the underprivileged. He outlined several achievements and ongoing projects in the district aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

Key Welfare and Development Initiatives
– Women and Transgender Welfare: Free bus travel for women and transgender individuals benefited over 1.71 crore women in the district, saving ₹54.79 crore in transportation costs.
– Healthcare: Under the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme, healthcare coverage was increased to ₹10 lakh per family, benefiting 6,964 patients in the district at a cost of ₹17.12 crore.
– Farmers' Welfare: The Rythu Crop Loan Waiver scheme waived loans worth ₹513 crore for 58,113 farmers. Starting January 26, 2025, the Rythu Bharosa scheme will provide ₹12,000 per acre annually for crop investment support.
– Landless Laborers: The Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa scheme selected 10,393 families for assistance.
– Procurement Support: During the 2024-25 Kharif season, 65,177 metric tons of paddy was purchased from 8,822 farmers, with ₹138.92 crore credited to their accounts and an additional ₹6.11 crore provided as bonuses.
– Housing: Surveys for 1,44,749 houses were completed under the Indiramma Housing Program to help poor families achieve homeownership.

– Free Electricity: The Gruha Jyoti scheme provides free electricity for up to 200 units, benefiting 6.17 lakh families with subsidies worth ₹15.96 crore.
– Affordable Cooking Gas: The Mahalakshmi Scheme offers LPG cylinders for ₹500, benefiting 94,536 families with ₹5.69 crore in subsidies.
– Education: ₹9.16 crore was allocated for improvements in 460 schools under the Amma Aadarsha Pathashala scheme, with ₹5.54 crore already utilized for 241 schools. Hygiene initiatives in 450 schools received ₹96.33 lakh.
– Land Reforms: The Bhu Bharati Act was implemented to simplify land transactions, resolve disputes, and protect government land.
– Public Safety: The police department’s efforts resulted in reduced crimes and increased public trust.

Cultural Events and Honors
The celebrations ended with cultural performances by schoolchildren, showcasing patriotism and entertaining the audience. Government officials who demonstrated exceptional service were honored with certificates of appreciation. Women’s self-help groups received loan cheques worth ₹25.45 crore. District Collector B.M. Santosh, along with other officials, visited stalls set up by departments like Agriculture, Health, Education, and Handloom & Textiles.

Additional Republic Day Programs
Earlier in the day, Additional District Collector Lakshmi Narayana hoisted the National Flag at the District Integrated Office Complex (IDOC) and paid tributes to freedom fighters. He distributed books to students and participated in flag-hoisting ceremonies at the District Collectorate and Zilla Parishad office.
