The NCC Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Directorate celebrated its 75 years of National Cadet Corps on Sunday at Army Garrison, Mehdipatnam. The celebrations started with horse riders carrying the national flag and NCC flag to welcome the guests.
Commodore VM Reddy, Deputy Director-General, gave a speech about the significance of the day and the motto of NCC – Unity and Discipline. He praised the cadets for their courage, steadfastness, and discipline, as well as their sportsmanship spirit. He also highlighted the achievements of the cadets at national and international levels. He emphasized the role of the Associate NCC Officer (ANO) in instilling the values of the NCC in the cadets.
The event featured equestrian activities by the cadets, which were exciting and thrilling. The cadets also performed a cultural program, including a patriotic group song and various dance forms such as Lambadi and Kuchipudi.
The audience included important dignitaries from the army and civil administration, as well as NCC alumni, cadets, and staff. Brig. Somashankar, Deputy GOC, HQ Telangana and Andhra Sub-Area (TASA), released the NCC journal of the directorate. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of discipline in everyone’s life and praised the NCC for shaping young minds.
The programme concluded with the presentation of a banner to the winner, Secunderabad NCC group, for their consistent performance throughout the year among nine NCC group HQs under the directorate.
