The Government of India has successfully rescued and brought back 540 Indian nationals who were trapped in cyber scam compounds in Myawaddy, Myanmar. Among them, 24 were from Telangana.
These individuals were repatriated in two batches—283 people in the first batch and 257 in the second. The first batch arrived in India on March 10, while the second batch followed on March 11. From Telangana, 14 people reached Hyderabad on March 11, while the remaining 10 arrived on March 12.

Authorities have identified 15 agents and mediators involved in the scam. Out of these, eight people have been arrested, while the others are either hiding or residing abroad. Efforts are being made to track them down and take necessary action.

The Cyber Security Bureau has warned the public to be cautious of fraudulent job offers. People seeking jobs abroad are advised to verify their job offers through official channels, such as the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) website (https://emigrate.gov.in). They should also ensure they receive a written agreement from the foreign employer before traveling. Suspicious job descriptions and unclear offers should be carefully examined.
If anyone has fallen victim to such fraudulent overseas job offers, they should report it immediately by calling 1930 or visiting www.cybercrime.gov.in.
