Mulugu: As part of Police Martyrs Memorial Week, an event called “Open House” was organized on Friday at the district police headquarters. This event was overseen by Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Shabarish. Around 350 students from local government schools and colleges attended. The purpose was to educate the students about how the police system works and the safety measures taken to protect the public.

The students were given practical demonstrations on how various weapons operate. Police officers, including those of the rank of Reserve Inspector (RI), explained the use of these weapons in detail. The event also included information on police laws, dog squads, fingerprint identification devices, traffic safety, road safety, and cybercrime.

Various stalls were set up to display weapons such as AK-47s, Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), INSAS rifles, carbines, and 9mm pistols. Bomb disposal units, clues teams, and dog squads were also present. Armed forces personnel gave detailed explanations about how each piece of equipment works.

SP Dr. Shabarish emphasized the importance of understanding how law enforcement operates, including bomb disposal techniques, riot gear, and the safety measures taken by SHE Teams and Bharosa Centres, which focus on protecting women. He explained that this knowledge helps students understand the significance of law enforcement and how it works to maintain safety.

For female students, the SP recommended downloading the T-Safe app, which was developed by the Telangana police for women’s safety. He also advised everyone to be cautious of suspicious links to avoid becoming victims of cybercrimes. In case of any cyber fraud, he recommended calling the toll-free number 1930 to report it immediately.

The event was attended by Additional SP Sadanandam, Mulugu DSP Ravinder, CI Shankar, RI (admin) Venkatanarayana, RI (home guards) Tirupati Reddy, and SI Venkateshwarlu.
