Hyderabad:
Ahead of the third T-20 International match between India and Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, the Rachakonda police have put in place extensive security measures. Over 2,600 police personnel will be deployed to ensure safety during the match, which is expected to attract a large crowd, as the stadium can hold around 39,000 people.
The security arrangements involve several police units, including 250 security personnel, 400 traffic police, and 1,662 law and order officers. In addition, 14 TSSP platoons, six platoons of armed forces, two teams of Octopus (elite security forces), 10 mounted police, and 10 Vajra vehicles will be on duty. Various other departments, like SB, CCS staff, SOT, and fire safety teams with two fire tenders, are also involved.
To monitor the stadium and its surroundings, the police are installing 300 CCTV cameras. These cameras will cover vehicle checkpoints, parking areas, and other important locations. A joint command and control room has been set up on the south side of the stadium at the G-6 box to monitor the CCTV footage and respond quickly if needed.
Additionally, anti-sabotage checks will be done around the clock by Bomb Disposal (BD) teams. Scanners placed at the stadium will help detect explosives or other prohibited items. The BD team and sniffer dogs will be on duty to ensure the safety of the stadium and parking areas. A special road clearance team will ensure smooth entry and exit for players, VIPs, and VVIPs.
Security teams will also check for prohibited items like laptops, cameras, sharp objects, and outside food. A separate SHE Teams/anti-eve-teasing unit has been formed to prevent any incidents of eve-teasing during the match. The police will also verify the background of personnel hired by sponsors and vendors, issuing photo passes to them.
Parking will be restricted on main roads from Genpact to Uppal Ring Road, and from Uppal Ring Road to Vishal Mart and Ramanthapur. Spectators should park their vehicles at designated TSIIC parking areas. Stadium gates will open at 4 pm to allow early entry, and seven ambulances and four fire engines will be on standby for emergencies.
The GHMC Uppal officials are also cleaning up the area around the stadium to ensure a smooth event. Spectators are requested to follow designated routes and parking instructions. Those with car passes for gates 1 and 2 should enter from the Ramanthapur side, while those with passes for gates G-4 to G-10 should use the Habsiguda-Uppal main road.
