The accused individuals, who hail from these five states, were part of sophisticated networks exploiting technological loopholes to carry out large-scale financial frauds. To combat the growing menace of cybercrime, the Hyderabad cyber crime police deployed five specialized teams to track and apprehend the culprits. These operations targeted various fraudulent activities and employed advanced investigation methods to uncover the perpetrators.

The police revealed that the fraudsters used multiple methods to deceive victims, including investment scams, digital arrest frauds, trading frauds, APK file scams, and job-related frauds. The total monetary loss suffered by victims across these cases was reported to be ₹5,29,98,006. During the arrests, the police recovered ₹40,000 in cash, 25 mobile phones, 45 SIM cards, 28 bank passbooks/chequebooks, 23 debit and credit cards, and other incriminating materials. In three separate cases, the police successfully refunded ₹39 lakh to the victims.

The Hyderabad cyber crime police worked closely with law enforcement agencies in other states to track down and arrest the accused. Special focus was given to identifying key players in these fraud operations, including bank officials, suppliers of mule bank accounts, and the central masterminds, or “kingpins,” of these syndicates.

DCP Cyber Crimes, Dara Kavitha, highlighted the importance of these operations. She stated, “These efforts not only led to the recovery of significant assets and financial instruments but also dismantled organized fraud syndicates, ensuring justice for victims across the country.”

The police have issued a strong advisory urging citizens to remain vigilant. People are advised not to engage with individuals on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram who offer lucrative investment opportunities or promise high returns on small investments. Such offers are often fraudulent.

In addition, the public is encouraged to be cautious of unknown calls or messages. The police emphasized that law enforcement agencies do not issue digital arrest warrants or demand money to prove innocence. Citizens are advised to verify any suspicious claims by visiting their nearest police station.

If you encounter any suspicious activity or fall victim to cyber fraud, you can report it immediately by calling the cybercrime helpline at 1930 or by visiting the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal at https://cybercrime.gov.in. Stay alert and protect yourself from cybercrime.
