The Rachakonda Commissionerate SHE Teams in Hyderabad caught 117 people who were involved in crimes against women. Out of these, cases were filed against 53 people, while the others were given a stern warning and let go.
The SHE Teams received complaints through various channels like email, phone, social media, and direct walk-ins from November 16 to 30. They registered four criminal cases and 47 petty cases against the offenders, while the remaining individuals were advised to attend counseling sessions.
One of the arrested individuals was a 25-year-old man who was stalking and harassing a ninth-grade student. The victim’s parents reported the incident to the police, who then registered a case and arrested the suspect. He has been remanded.
In another incident, the SHE Teams apprehended an auto-rickshaw driver who worked for a transport company. He misbehaved with a female passenger during her journey to work. The victim filed a complaint, leading to the registration and arrest of the driver.
Furthermore, as part of their awareness program, the SHE Teams reached out to 8,275 women and girls at public places between November 15 and 30. They educated them about safety measures implemented by the Rachakonda police to protect women.
