The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) and Bollaram police caught four people transporting 1,000 kgs of ganja in Bollaram. The police also seized a DCM van, a car, and four mobile phones worth Rs 3.5 crore from the suspects.
The incident took place during a vehicle check at the Bollaram check post ahead of the Assembly elections. The accused individuals were traveling in a car and a DCM van when they were apprehended by TSNAB and Bollaram police.
The suspects have been identified as Sakaram Rathod, a 35-year-old from Bidar, Karnataka, and Ajay Ramavtar Chaurasiya, also known as Arjun, a 39-year-old from Thane, Maharashtra. Both of them were drug peddlers. The other two individuals involved were Ahmed Khan, a 27-year-old lorry driver, and Digambar Ramu Pawar, a 30-year-old cleaner.
According to the police, Sakaram Rathod instructed Ahmed Khan and Digambar Ramu Pawar to travel to Malkangiri in a DCM van four days ago. There, they loaded 1,000 kgs of ganja and returned to Auto Nagar, Rajahmundry. Sakaram Rathod then joined them in his car and transferred 80 kgs of ganja from the DCM to his car. They were escorting the van to avoid police checks when they contacted Ajay Ramavtar to meet them near Secunderabad.
The suspects were caught during the vehicle check on Tuesday, and the police have registered a case against them.
