Winter Session of Telangana Assembly to Begin on December 9
The winter session of the Telangana Assembly is expected to start on December 9. A key topic of discussion in political circles is whether the Leader of Opposition, K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), will attend the session and challenge the government.
This session is significant as the current government, which is nearing its one-year mark in office, plans to showcase its achievements over the past 10 months. The government aims to compare its progress with what it refers to as the “10 years of misrule” by the previous BRS government.
One major issue likely to dominate the discussions is the recent Adani controversy. The indictment by the US Department of Justice and the FBI over allegations of bribing “Indian officials” for various projects may take center stage during the debates.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is reportedly preparing a detailed report highlighting the failures of the BRS government over the past decade. This report will also include data on how quickly the Congress government has delivered on its promises since coming to power.
Other topics expected to be discussed include the Musi Rejuvenation Project, the Fourth City initiative, the establishment of a Pharma Village, and issues surrounding land acquisition. There could also be a special debate focusing on the shortcomings of the previous government. Additionally, the new Record of Rights (RoR) bill is likely to be introduced, debated, and passed during the session.
The government has instructed key departments, such as Irrigation, Education, Medical and Health, Panchayat Raj, Municipal Administration, Urban Development, and IT and Industry, to prepare comparative reports. These reports will contrast the achievements of the BRS government over a decade with the accomplishments of the current government in its first year. Ministers from these departments are also expected to present their findings during the session.
